Why start so early: Drowning is among the leading causes of accidental death in young children in the UAE, and most homes in Dubai have a private or shared pool. Research published by the American Academy of Pediatrics found that formal swimming lessons are associated with a significantly lower risk of drowning in young children. Early water familiarity is one of the most effective preventions a parent can give.

What We Teach at Each Stage

Every baby is different — these are typical milestones, always led by your child's comfort

    Recommended
    Parent & Baby

    First Splash

    3 – 12 months

Gentle introduction to water for the youngest swimmers. We build a calm, positive association with the pool through holds, gliding, gentle pours and skin-to-skin reassurance. Every session is led by the baby's mood, never a fixed curriculum.

Calm water entry on parent's chest
    Supported front and back holds
    Gentle gliding through the water
    Water-pour acclimatisation over the head
    Cued breath-holding (instructor-guided)

Parent is always in the water. Sessions are 25–30 minutes — short by design, because that matches a baby's attention and comfort window.

    Active Baby

    Water Confidence

    12 – 24 months

As babies become mobile, sessions add active movement: assisted kicking, reaching for the wall, and the first supported submersions for babies who are ready. The focus stays on safety reflexes and joy in the water.

    Assisted kicking and arm reaching
Reaching and holding the pool wall ('monkey grip')
    Brief supported submersion (when ready)
Turning back to the wall after entry
Floating on the back with light support

Parent in the water. We never force submersion — readiness varies hugely between babies and that is completely normal.

    Transition

    Toward Independence

    2 – 3 years

The bridge into our toddler programme. Toddlers build the water-safety basics that matter most in Dubai's villa and apartment pools — turning back to the edge, floating, and not panicking if they fall in.

    Independent (brief) back float
    Turn-and-reach-the-wall safety skill
    Blowing bubbles and breath control
    Supported front-float and glide
Jumping in to a waiting parent/instructor

From around age 2½–3 most children are ready to graduate into our Toddler programme.

Why Private Baby Lessons at Home

    Bonding, Not Just Lessons

Baby swimming is as much about parent-child connection as technique. Private sessions at your own pool turn the lesson into a calm, shared ritual rather than a noisy group class.

    Water Safety From Day One

Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death for young children in the UAE. Early, regular water exposure builds the reflexes and respect for water that genuinely save lives.

    Around Naps & Feeds

Babies run on tight routines. We schedule around nap times and feeds — not a fixed timetable — so your baby is always alert, fed and ready, never overtired.

    Infant-Aquatics Certified

Teaching babies safely requires specific training in infant aquatics, thermoregulation and water-safety protocols. Every ProFit coach who teaches babies holds this qualification plus paediatric first aid.

    What Parents Say

"We started our 5-month-old in our building's pool. The coach was incredibly gentle and taught us the holds so we felt confident. By 9 months our daughter genuinely loves the water."

    Olga S.

    Dubai Marina

"As first-time parents we were nervous about water. The private baby sessions at home were calm and unhurried — nothing like a crowded class. Our son turns back to the wall on his own now."

    Priya M.

    Dubai Hills

"Russian-speaking coach who came to our villa around our baby's nap schedule. Patient, professional and clearly trained for infants. Best decision we made this year."

    Baby Swimming FAQ

?What age can a baby start swimming lessons in Dubai?

Babies can start water-acclimatisation sessions from around 3 months old, once they have had their early vaccinations and you have your paediatrician's go-ahead. Earlier is better for building a lifelong positive association with water — but it is never too late to start.

?Is baby swimming safe? Isn't the water too cold or the chlorine too harsh?

It is safe when done correctly. We teach in your own pool and advise on a baby-safe water temperature (ideally around 32°C for the youngest babies), keep sessions short (25–30 minutes), and watch closely for any signs of cold. Because lessons are private at your home pool, you control the water quality — no crowded public-pool chlorine.

?Do I get in the pool with my baby?

Yes. All baby sessions (up to around 2–2½ years) are parent-and-baby — a parent or caregiver is in the water throughout. Your presence is what makes the baby feel safe, and it lets you learn the holds and safety skills to practise between lessons.

?Will my baby learn to actually swim?

At this age the goal is not independent swimming — it is water confidence, safety reflexes (like turning back to the wall), breath control and joy in the water. These are the foundations that make learning to swim far faster and easier when your child is older. Independent swimming typically develops from age 4–5.

?How often should baby swimming lessons be?

Once a week is ideal for steady progress and for keeping the water familiar. Consistency matters more than intensity at this age — a regular weekly rhythm helps the baby remember and build on each session.

?What does my baby need to wear?

A swim nappy is essential (a double layer — disposable swim nappy plus a neoprene wrap — is ideal). For cooler pools a baby wetsuit or warmsuit helps hold body heat. We will advise exactly what to bring before your first session.
